This project is identity and way-finding design for the Opelika Wood Duck Heritage Preserve, a local park. As a class, we visited the park and met with and eventually presented to park board members. The park is popular with bird watchers due to the high wood duck population. There are two viewing blinds on the property as well as a trail system. The identity is designed to feel authentic to parks and nature, while still being fresh and elevated. The way-finding system is cost effective and non-intrusive in the natural terrain while still guiding visitors effectively. A road sign welcomes, a map helps visitors plan, small and large trail markers help guide, and Pause Point education signs enrich the experience.
